Granite Falls and the surrounding area is a history lover’s paradise with museums and intersected by the Minnesota River Valley National Scenic Byway and the Yellowstone Trail. It is the home of the Upper Sioux Community. This land we call Pezihutazizi Kapi (the place where they dig for yellow medicine) has been the homeland for their people, the Dakota Oyate (Nation), for thousands of years.

The town site was established in the early 1870s by Henry Hill and Granite Falls was incorporated as a village on March 11, 1879. Learn more.
